NYU Pi Delta Psi
Excellence Through Brotherhood
National History
Pi Delta Psi was founded on February 20, 1994 in Binghamton University, State University of New York. The eleven men were responsible for architecting the guiding principles, which have now developed into one of the nation's largest Asian Cultural Interest Fraternities. Over the next three years (1994-1996), Pi Delta Psi had expanded into the University at Buffalo and Hofstra University. Every expansion resulted in positively impacting the school and surrounding community.
With a fierce growth in the brotherhood and a strengthened alumni base, the fraternity rebuilt its National Council in 1999, standardizing Pi Delta Psi throughout all its chapters. By 2000, Pi Delta Psi had expanded to 11 prestigious campuses spanning four states, setting a record for the fastest growing organization of its kind since inception.
Today, the Fraternity continues to grow in size and prestige, with 15 chapters, 2 Associate Chapters, and 6 Colonies. What began as a dream for the eleven Founders, has become the work and dedication of hundreds across the country and across seas.

Chapter History
In the Spring of 1997, three outstanding men established their life-long legacy here at New York University, a legacy that has continued to grow and prosper for over ten years. Their names were Angus Wong, Edric Har, and Garrent Leung. Together, they started the NYU (Zeta) Chapter of the Pi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc.
As part of the premier Asian Cultural fraternity in the world, the chapter has grown to include over 100 active brothers, 17 of whom are current NYU students. We pride ourselves in firmly upholding the 4 pillars of our fraternity: Academic Achievement, Cultural Awareness, Righteousness, and Friendship/Loyalty. Not only are we among the brightest, academically-driven individuals on campus, our brothers are renowned for successfully using our academic achievements towards realizing our professional initiatives.
As a cultural fraternity, we are motivated towards bringing Asian cultural awareness to the NYU community, through a variety of events that we organize on campus throughout the year. We are also actively involved in community service work, as we believe that it is highly important to give back to the city. And, of course, we love to have fun. We continue to maintain strong relations with Asian sororities at NYC (alpha Kappa Delta Phi, Kappa Phi Lambda), as well as a variety of organizations within the Tri-state area.
Over the years, we have distinguished ourselves as a fraternity by garnering the respect of others through class and dignity. We have fought hard to disprove the many stereotypes that typically hinder the true idea of what fraternity life is all about. We continue to rapidly expand our growing presence here at NYU, through our actions, not words. Therefore, we encourage you to learn more about the Pi Delta Psi Fraternity here at NYU, through our Rush events, info sessions, and the many events that we do throughout the year.
These are the best 4 years of your life. Are you just going to sit back and watch them go by? Or are you going aggressively seek challenges and accomplish things that you never dreamt possible? You decide.
Mission Statement
The mission of Pi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc. is to maintain its Fraternal existence by instilling values that nurture and perpetuate the continual growth and development of the individual through Academic Achievement, Cultural Awareness, Righteousness, Friendship and Loyalty while fostering ethical behavior, leadership, and philanthropy.
Pi Delta Psi was founded on these principles to help promote Asian Awareness amongst ourselves and throughout the community. We envisioned this to be possible by going out of the boundaries of an organization and creating a Fraternity on the basis of common goals and ideals in the form of a brotherhood. We believe that through education, we can become more knowledgeable about the different Asian cultures, overcome obstacles of racism and discrimination, therefore unifying us as a whole.
This mission statement embodies the purpose of our Fraternity and is set forth as a guide that empowers each member to better himself, the Brotherhood, community, and society as a whole.
